Sell Your Broken Land Rover Or Range Rover In Deal

There’s a point where a Land Rover stops being a vehicle and becomes a decision: it won’t start, it’s failed its MOT, or a garage has handed you a repair quote you’ve no intention of paying, and it’s sitting in Deal going nowhere. We buy it as it stands. We’re the buyer, not a route to buyers, so there’s no auction, no bidding window and nobody else getting to reprice your Range Rover after the fact. Broken, damaged, non-running, MOT-failed or just high-mileage, we quote on it, collect it free and pay before it leaves.

Why A Standing Land Rover In Deal Gets Harder To Sell

A Land Rover parked up since its last MOT rarely stays where the fault left it. Batteries flatten far enough to upset the body control module and the immobiliser, so a vehicle with one problem in March has two by the autumn. Air suspension bleeds down as it stands and the car settles onto its stops on one corner. Pads bond to discs, and a slow coolant or oil leak carries on leaking.

Deal adds salt to all that. A seafront town works away at the underside of a vehicle all year, and on older Defenders and Discoverys it turns up in the chassis outriggers, the bulkhead and the suspension mounts. We’d rather be straight about it: corrosion does affect what we can pay, because it affects what can be put right. It doesn’t stop us buying.

One buyer, one figure, and no bidding on your Land Rover

The process runs in four steps. None of them requires you to move the vehicle.

Get a quote: call or email with the model, year, mileage, and the main fault. We'll give you a number without seeing the car.

Accept the offer: no obligation. If the number works for you, we'll book a collection slot.

We quote on the registration, mileage, postcode and a plain description of what’s wrong, and that figure is ours to honour. It isn’t an estimate that something later settles, and it isn’t a reserve for somebody else to bid against. When our driver arrives and sees the vehicle for the first time, the number doesn’t move. Nothing comes off for collection, nothing for recovery, nothing for admin.

Payment is by bank transfer on the day, and it goes through before the vehicle is loaded rather than after it’s out of sight on a transporter. A quote carries no obligation with it either. If the figure isn’t enough for you, say so and that’s the end of it.

How Collection Works In Deal And The Villages Around It

We’re based in Kent and we’re collecting somewhere in the county constantly, so Deal is an ordinary run for us and same-day collection is often possible. It’s the A2 down and across on the A256, or the A258 up the coast from Dover.

We cover Deal and the CT14 area around it: the seafront and town centre, Sholden, Great Mongeham, Kingsdown and Ringwould, our neighbour Walmer, and inland towards Sandwich and Eastry.

Where the vehicle sits matters very little. A driveway, the kerb where it stopped, a lock-up, or a garage that has finished diagnosing it and wants the space back. Non-runners come out on a flatbed at no charge, so a seized engine, a gearbox that won’t select drive, air suspension flat on the floor or an immobiliser that won’t release are the driver’s problem rather than yours. Nothing needs starting, moving or tidying up first.

What We Pay For A Broken Or Non-Running Land Rover In Deal

The figure comes off the model, year, mileage, specification, the fault itself and the condition of everything the fault hasn’t touched. A Discovery with one known, priceable failure and a sound chassis is a different vehicle from the same Discovery with a rotten one, and we price them apart.

What we see most, and why each of these ends a vehicle on paper rather than in reality:

  • TDV6 timing belt. It lives at the back of the engine, so reaching it means separating the gearbox. A service item becomes a bill larger than the vehicle’s value, and if the belt has already gone the valves have usually met the pistons.
  • Air suspension. Compressor, air struts or valve block: the vehicle sinks overnight, puts up a suspension fault message and often won’t lift enough to be driven.
  • ZF gearbox and automatic transmission faults, including harsh shifts, missing gears and boxes stuck in limp mode.
  • Blocked DPF and failed regenerations on diesels doing short coastal journeys that never get hot enough to burn the filter clear.
  • Turbocharger and head gasket failure, seized engines and non-starters.
  • Electrical faults: BCM and immobiliser trouble, battery drain, warning lights nobody has got to the bottom of.
  • Chassis and bulkhead corrosion found at MOT on a vehicle that otherwise drives perfectly well.

We buy Defender, including 90, 110 and the TD5 era, Discovery and Discovery Sport, Freelander, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Evoque and Velar. Land Rover and Range Rover only, no other makes. And we price on what the vehicle is worth put right, not on what it weighs, which is where a specialist offer parts company with a general scrap quote.

The Paperwork: V5C, SORN And Telling DVLA

Two documents come up most, and neither is usually a problem. A missing V5C doesn’t stop the sale, so tell us it’s gone when you ask for the quote and we’ll go through the alternative paperwork with you. A vehicle that’s been on SORN is normal here rather than awkward, since most of what we buy hasn’t been taxed or driven for months.

At collection we complete and submit the V5C transfer section with you and explain what’s left on your side. Telling DVLA the vehicle has been sold is the registered keeper’s job and it stays with you. The quickest route is DVLA’s own service at gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle: about five minutes with the reference number from the V5C, and it confirms on screen straight away. Save or screenshot that confirmation, because it’s your proof of when you sold it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you collect from Deal yourselves, or does a partner come out?

Ourselves. We’re Kent-based, the transporter and the driver are ours, and you’re dealing with the people who gave you the figure from the first call through to the transfer. Same-day collection in Deal is often possible.

My Land Rover hasn't moved off the drive in Deal for two years. Will you still take it?

Yes. It goes onto a flatbed with no recovery charge, and it doesn’t need to start, select a gear or rise on its suspension first. Tell us if access is tight or the tyres are flat and the driver will come prepared for it.

Is a broken Land Rover in Deal worth more than scrapping it?

Usually. A scrap price is based on weight, so it barely changes whatever’s wrong with the vehicle, while ours is based on the actual fault and what the rest of the vehicle is worth. We won’t put a figure on it without the registration, because the fault decides it.

It's been written off as Category S. Do you buy Category S vehicles in Deal?

Yes, Category S and Category N, along with anything an insurer or garage has called uneconomical to repair. Tell us the marker when you ask for a quote so the figure accounts for it from the start instead of changing later.

What happens to my Land Rover after you collect it from Deal?

Most are repaired and resold rather than broken up. Where a vehicle is too far gone for that, it's assessed on what's still worth having in it. Once it's paid for and loaded it's ours, and we don't come back to you about anything we find afterwards.

Three Ways To Start Selling Your Land Rover In Deal

Ring us if the fault is complicated, and describe what the vehicle is doing to somebody who knows what a rear-mounted belt job or a valve block actually costs. Valuation form: give us the registration, postcode, mileage and a line about the fault, and we’ll come back with a figure. Email: send the same details and we’ll reply with a quote.
